Assam: Man from 'I Love You' market in Bijni held for poaching in Manas National Park

Guwahati: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) apprehended a poacher from the Indo-Bhutan border at Bijni in Chirang district on Thursday night.

A massive search operation was launched by the SSB during the course of which the poacher from Manas National Park.

The poacher identified as Dharma Hajong (32) hails from I Love You market in Bijni.

The SSB recovered one gun and arms used in poaching.

it is to be mentioned that a team of 7 poachers had camped at Kuklung range when the SSB conducted the operation.

The 6 others reportedly managed to flee from the area and evade arrest.

On Tuesday, a most-wanted rhino poacher was apprehended in Assam's Biswanath district in a joint operation by Biswanath Police and the Crime Investigation Range staff of Wildlife division.

The poacher, identified as Ratul Das alias Gunda, was absconding since 2019.
