NUMALIGARH: The Marangi Press Club organized a farewell ceremony to honour its outgoing secretary Priyandip Kakoti at the Marangi Mahavidyalaya Auditorium. The event was held in conjunction with the conclusion of a two-day print and electronic media journalism workshop.
Kakoti, a renowned journalist and social worker, recently resigned from journalism to pursue a career in politics. The workshop, which was attended by over 50 students, featured practical training sessions on print media journalism and writing styles by senior journalist Robin Bhuyan and electronic media journalism by senior journalist Jitul Datta. The farewell ceremony was attended by prominent personalities, educators, writers, and social workers from Marangi. The event began with a group song by the Daigrung Pragati Mahila Samiti. In his farewell speech, Kakoti expressed gratitude to all present and reflected on his journey as a journalist. He emphasized the importance of journalists highlighting problems and seeking solutions, which has driven him to explore a new path in politics. Earlier, chief guest Dr Deepak Bora, Principal of Government Model College, Deithor, praised Kakoti’s contributions to journalism and social service. He noted that Kakoti’s artistic thinking and efforts have given the Marangi Press Club a new direction.
The event was also addressed by Hemanta Saikia, President of the Marangi Press Club, who welcomed the guests and shared his experiences with Kakoti. Dr Mamoni Mahanta, Principal of Marangi Mahavidyalaya, inaugurated the ceremony. The Marangi Press Club’s gesture to honour Kakoti’s contributions to journalism and social service was widely appreciated by the attendees.
