BONGAIGAON: A huge fire erupted in the Goraimari area of Bongaigaon district on the 13th of December around 9:30 PM, resulting in heavy destruction of properties.
The inferno gutted a scrap shop belonging to Kesmat Ali and a paddy godown which belonged to Abdul Karim.
Firefighters arrived on time, and worked relentlessly to control the flames and prevent further damage. Although the incident resulted in large investments being lost, it was confirmed that there was no loss of life.
According to the initial probe, an electrical short circuit is the suspected cause of fire. The situation is now under control and the other local authorities are conducting a detailed investigation.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, a massive fire broke out at Pasighat's vegetable market, located near IGJ Higher Secondary School and the Airport area, around 9 pm on Tuesday. The blaze destroyed 108 shops, leaving the market sheds in ruins. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
According to reports from DIPRO, the fire service team successfully extinguished the blaze, but the majority of the market sheds were completely destroyed.
A Standing Board team, led by Chairperson Olak Apang, along with AEs from electrical and PHED, OCs of the fire and police stations, and the DDMO, visited the fire site to assess the damage and met with the vendors affected by the blaze.
The victims were instructed to submit the required supporting documents to the DDMO office for the prompt processing of relief assistance.
