GUWAHATI: In a shocking and horrifying incident, the dismembered body of a missing child was discovered inside a black trolley bag near the road between Basistha and Indira Nagar in Guwahati. A local scavenger made the unfortunate discovery when he noticed human legs sticking out of the abandoned bag.
Police have arrested the child’s mother, Dipali Rajbongshi, and her lover, Jyotimoy Haloi, for the murder of 10-year-old Mrinmoy Barman. The duo allegedly confessed during interrogation. Mrinmoy had been reported missing earlier, and Dipali had even filed a false report to mislead investigators.
Dipali, who worked at a clinic, had recently filed for divorce from her husband and was in a relationship with Jyotimoy, a temporary peon at the AG’s office. Investigators claim that this relationship may have played a role in the shocking motive behind the crime.
The child’s schoolbag was also found at the scene, and a crime scene reconstruction has been conducted in the presence of a magistrate. In order to confirm the identity, police are now sending the remains for forensic testing.
This chilling case has left Guwahati residents horrified and demanding stricter security and surveillance in the city’s poorly lit and neglected areas.
