Assam: Nagaon Police Seize Rs 80,000 Worth Drugs, Arrest Two Alleged Peddlers

Nagaon police arrest two alleged drug peddlers and seize 35.5g of suspected drugs worth over Rs 80,000 during a raid near the old NH-37.

NAGAON: Nagaon police on Friday seized a substantial quantity of drugs following a tip-off from a confidential source. A police team led by Biman Gogoi, Officer-in-Charge of Nagaon town police station, intercepted two alleged drug peddlers near the Nagaon State Bank headquarters on the old NH-37 around noon and arrested them along with the suspected drugs. According to police sources, the two accused were allegedly carrying drugs from Katimari, near Nagaon town, towards the town on a Honda Dio scooter bearing registration number AS02R7625. In connection with the case, police arrested Islam Malik and Shahin Malik of Faujdaripatty. Police recovered 30 containers allegedly containing drugs from their possession. The seized substance weighs approximately 35.5 grams and is estimated to be worth more than Rs 80,000. Police sources further alleged that the two accused from Faujdaripatty had been involved in the illegal drug trade in Nagaon town and its adjoining areas for a considerable period.
