Assam: Nagaon scribes stage protest against arrest of Dilawar Hussain Mazumdar

Scribes of Nagaon staged a protest against the arbitrary arrest of Dilawar Hussain Mazumdar, Assistant Secretary of Guwahati Press Club and a senior journalist.

NAGAON: Scribes of Nagaon staged a protest against the arbitrary arrest of Dilawar Hussain Mazumdar, Assistant Secretary of Guwahati Press Club and a senior journalist today here. The members of Nagaon District Unit of Working Journalists’ Union and the Nagaon Electronic Media Association wore black badges as a mark of protest at Nagaon here. The two journalist organizations condemned the arrest and appealed to the government to prevent such incidents of journalist harassment in the future.

Meanwhile, a protest rally called by the Guwahati Press Club was thwarted by the police today. Both journalist organizations criticized the police action.

The Nagaon Press Club, district unit of All Assam Journalists’ Union, All Nagaon District Students’ Union, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, and other organizations have strongly condemned the arrest of Mazumdar.
