GORESWAR: Under the supervision of the Assam Science, Technology, and Environment Council and organized by the Goreswar unit of the Assam Science Society, a two-day long nature camp successfully concluded today at the Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary in Udalguri district. The camp was aimed at educating students about biodiversity.
A closing ceremony was held at the premises of the Daoraijhar Eco-Tourism Society (Bogamati) office, where participating students shared their experiences from the sanctuary. The event was anchored by the Secretary of Goreswar unit of Science society, Makunda Kakaty, and Rabiram Boro and Jawdang Basumatary, President and Secretary of the Daoraijhar Eco-Tourism Society.
During the event, participation certificates were distributed to 40 students from 10 educational institutions in the Goreswar area who took part in the camp. Prominent attendees and contributors to the camp included Dimbeswar Rajbongshi, Malay Kumar Deka, Ananda Boro (Anjima), Nitai Chakravarty, Bijoy Dahal, Dharmakanta Rajbongshi, and Jitesh Biswas. The camp was formally inaugurated on Saturday by Forest Officer Rajen Daimary at the premises of the Rajagarh Forest Range Office in the Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary.
In his inaugural speech, Rajen Daimary emphasized the importance of nature conservation and discussed the various animals, birds, and plant species found in the sanctuary. He also personally led a guided tour of a section of the sanctuary for the campers.
It is worth noting that the nature camp was held with the support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Special contributions came from the President, Secretary, and members of the Daorijhar Eco-Tourism Society, journalist Abdul Latif Choudhury, and teacher Biren Das. The staff and officers of the Tamulpur and Rajagarh forest range offices also extended significant cooperation in making the camp a success.
