Assam: NCC seminar on national security organized at NIT Silchar

Silchar: Under Governor Assam’s Rashtriya Suraksha Protsahan Yojana, 3 Assam Batallion NCC, organized an inter-college debate competition on “Role of Youth in National Security” at NIT Silchar on Saturday. The event aimed to raise awareness about national security and the pivotal role of youth, especially NCC cadets, in ensuring the nation’s security. The highlight of the programme was an interactive session and workshop by Ahsan Shahedi, DIG, BSF, HQ Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, on border security issues. He shared valuable insights into the contemporary security challenges facing India and emphasized the importance of participation of youth in national defence and security initiatives. His talk underscored how the youth could contribute significantly through discipline, awareness, and commitment to national causes.

The event was attended by the commanding officer and staff of the 3 Assam Battalion NCC Silchar, Prof. Dilip Kumar Baidya, Director of NIT Silchar; Lt (Dr) Rama Koteswara Rao Kondasani, Associate NCC Officer; Dr Suprava Jena, NCC Caretaker Officer; and 209 NCC Cadets of various colleges in Cachar district.

Awards and certificates were distributed to the winners, namely Cadet Megha Singh of NIT Silchar and Cadet Shakil Anwar Mallik of Assam University, who were adjudged as the best speakers.
