DHUBRI: The newly-built Dhubri District Judicial Court building was inaugurated on Saturday. It was formally inaugurated by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Vijay Bishnoi.
The historic occasion began with a Saraswati Vandana, in the presence of Justice of the Gauhati High Court and Portfolio Judge of the Dhubri District Judiciary, Soumitra Saikia.
Dhubri District and Sessions Judge, Bablu Sutradhar, along with Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath and other judges, welcomed the dignitaries. The president of the Dhubri Bar Association, Nurul Islam Choudhury, along with learned members of the Bar, members of the legal community, and other town dignitaries, also graced the event.
The opening of the new judicial court building marks a significant step forward in strengthening the judicial infrastructure of this part of Assam, which had long operated from the Dhubri district administrative building, constructed in 1897.
This spacious G+5 “temple of justice” can now accommodate all the functionaries of the district judiciary, providing basic amenities, and is expected to play a pivotal role in delivering timely justice to the people, speakers opined during the inaugural meeting. They also expressed hope that the new building would immensely benefit the legal fraternity and the citizens of Dhubri.
The modern structure is expected to provide a more efficient environment for the functioning of the district judiciary, enabling smoother proceedings and better access to justice for all..
