Assam: Ninth Accused In Guwahati Gang Rape Case Arrested In Dhubri District

All nine accused in the Boragaon gang rape case have been arrested. The crime, filmed and shared online, sparked outrage. The police continue to investigate and are working to identify the victim.

GUWAHATI: The police have successfully arrested all nine accused in the heinous gang rape case that occurred in the Nijarapar area of Boragaon, Kamrup Metropolitan district.

The ninth accused, Krishna Barman, was arrested late Friday night from Golakganj in Dhubri district after a thorough manhunt.

The shocking incident took place on November 17 at Durga temple, where the perpetrator allegedly raped a woman and filmed the crime. The crime was discovered after a video went viral on social media, prompting the police to spung into action and launch a manhunt for the perpetrators.

Authorities had already arrested eight of the suspects, and with the apprehension of Krishna Barman, all nine involved are now in custody.

The arrested persons are, Kuldeep Nath (23) Bijoy Rabha (22) Pinku Das (18) Gagan Das (21) Saurav Boro (20) Mrinal Rabha (19) Dipankar Mukhiya (21) Rabin Das (23) Krishna Barman (arrested later from Golakganj)

The police, led by Inspector Mayurjit Gogoi and Sub-Inspector Kajal Dutta, have been informed of the video footage on the morning of November 18. Since then, the authorities have been working day and night to gather more evidence and details about the crime.

The victim's identity is yet to be confirmed, and she has not been named due to the sensitivity of the case.

This case has once again brought to the fore the issues of criminal activities in the concerned area, and law enforcement is well resolved to take strict action against the culprits to ensure accountability and justice for the victim.
