SRIBHUMI: A devastating road accident in the Kanishail area of Assam's Sribhumi district has left one schoolgirl dead and another critically injured after a speeding truck lost control and struck the two sisters walking along the roadside.
The incident occurred when the truck, reportedly traveling at reckless speed, veered off its course and collided with Humaiya Siddiqui and Hafsa Siddiqui. Tragically, Humaiya succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Hafsa was rushed to Sribhumi Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses described the truck’s speed as excessive, raising concerns about road safety in the area. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of the truck driver and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A heavy police presence was deployed at the scene to maintain order and support the investigation. The local community has been left in shock by the tragedy, with calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
