JAMUGURIHAT: One Dildar Hussain (30 years), a young man, lost his life following an attack by a wild buffalo that came out from the sixth edition of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Project in Jamugurihat on Monday. The victim was a resident of Karuna Centre of Bogara Ati village in the southern part of Jamugurihat. According to information, the incident took place in the early hours while Hussain had ventured into nearby fields to release his cattle for grazing. Unexpectedly, a wild buffalo, which had been wandering nearby, launched a sudden and aggressive attack, fatally injuring him. Local residents rushed to the spot but were unable to save Hussain. Forest officials were alerted soon after the incident and measures were taken to track and monitor the movement of wild animals in the area. This tragic incident has sparked concerns about increasing human-wildlife conflict in fringe areas adjoining forests. Villagers have appealed to authorities to increase patrolling and preventive measures to avoid such occurrences in the future.
Severely injured Hussain was immediately taken to Tezpur for treatment but succumbed to the injuries while on the way to Tezpur.
It is further pertinent to mention here that a total of four stray buffaloes were roaming in the adjoining areas causing great threat to the lives of the local residents.
