KHERONI: In a significant boost to the Congress Party's grassroots mobilization efforts, over 100 women formally allied with the party during a Joint-Extended Executive Meeting organized by the 7 No. Kopili Mahila Congress Committee today at the Kopili MCC Office. The event, marked by enthusiastic participation, underscored the growing support for the Congress in West Karbi Anglong.

The meeting was graced by prominent leaders, including West Karbi Anglong District President In-charge Alice Engtipi, who hailed the influx of women as a 'transformative step toward inclusive governance.' Former President In-charge Jatiram Patar, WKADCC Vice-President Rupsing Bongrung, and General Secretary (Org) Chotro Sing Teron were among the key figures present. Senior leaders such as Ward Commissioner Lalitsing Tokbi, DYC President Augustine Enghee, District Mahila Congress President Sanam Timungpi, and Rongkhang Block Congress Committee President Ajit Dera also attended, alongside representatives from NSUI, Sevadal, and district office bearers.

Presided over by 7 No. Kopili Mahila Congress Committee President Larta Rongpipi, the meeting outlined its objectives through an address by Jasmina Marak, General Secretary (Adm) of the West Karbi Anglong District Mahila Congress. Discussions centered on amplifying women's participation in politics, strengthening outreach programmes, and addressing local socio-economic challenges.

Alice Engtipi emphasized the Congress Party's commitment to empowering women, stating, "The collective strength of our sisters will drive meaningful change in West Karbi Anglong." The event also saw speeches by 7 No. Kopili MCC President Khorsing Engleng, and Amreng MCC President Sarthe Ronghi, who highlighted the importance of unity and grassroots activism.

The gathering concluded with pledges to expand women-led initiatives and foster collaboration across party wings. The surge in membership reflects the Congress's renewed focus on engaging women as key stakeholders in Assam's political landscape.
