Assam: Parimal Suklabaidya takes part in bike rally to create awareness on road safety

Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya took part in a bike rally in Lakhimpur district on Saturday.

LAKHIMPUR: Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya took part in a bike rally in Lakhimpur district on Saturday. The bike rally was organized to create awareness on road safety in connection with the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims takes place on the third Sunday in November every year as the appropriate acknowledgment of victims of road traffic crashes and their families.

During the course of the event, tribute was paid to the victims of road accidents and crashes in addition to extending gratitude to the dedicated emergency crews, police and medical professionals, who deal daily with the traumatic aftermath of road crashes. Currently, road traffic accidents turn to be a disaster that continues day in and day out not only in our country but across the world. It is considered to be an actual pandemic, affecting primarily the vulnerable and young generation which, in addition to the trauma of injury and bereavement, has also a devastating economic impact for countries, communities and families.

The bike rally was organized covering the whole Lakhimpur district from Dhalpur to Dhakuakhana. The minister also took part in a series of awareness meetings on road safety organized at Narayanpur, Laluk and Dhakuakhana. While delivering lecture, Suklabaidya appealed to the public to follow the traffic rules strictly while driving car or bike. He called upon all to use helmet, avoid high speed, not to mix drink and drive, not to use mobile, to use seat belt while driving car or any other vehicles. He said an accident-free district or State is possible only when people will be perfectly aware of road traffic accident.
