Assam: Partha Sarathi Mahanta Assumes Role as Police Commissioner, Launches 24x7 WhatsApp Helpline

Partha Sarathi Mahanta takes over as the new Guwahati Police Commissioner, with a 24/7 WhatsApp helpline (6026900651) now available for public complaints and assistance.

GUWAHATI: Partha Sarathi Mahanta has officially taken charge as the Commissioner of Police for Guwahati. In a move aimed at enhancing public access to law enforcement, a new WhatsApp helpline number, 6026900651, has been introduced for city residents.

This helpline will allow citizens to file complaints and seek assistance seamlessly. The service will be operational 24x7, ensuring round-the-clock support to the people of Guwahati.

Residents are encouraged to utilize this platform to report grievances and maintain a direct line of communication with the police.

It is worth noting that Mahanta had previously served as Joint Commissioner of Police in Guwahati, focusing on crime control and intelligence. Earlier in 2024, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP). In his new role, he is expected to enhance public safety, improve crime prevention, and strengthen community relations.

Outgoing Commissioner Diganta Barah was reassigned as Inspector General of Police (SB) Assam and took on the additional role of Director of the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Dergaon.

Other transfers included Akhilesh Kumar Singh being appointed as IGP (Law and Order), Lachit Baruah continuing as MD of Assam Police Housing Corporation, and Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan being reassigned as IGP.
