Assam: People Create Ruckus At Margherita Civil Hospital Over Death of Twin Born Babies

After this, on Monday morning, a few people along with the parents gathered at the hospital and expressed their anguish against the hospital staff and demanded an enquiry.

Margherita: A few people along with the baby's parents created a ruckus at Margherita Civil Hospital on Monday as twin born babies died.

The parents alleged that their twin born babies died due to negligent behaviour of doctors and nurses at the hospital.

Reportedly, Sandeep Rai a resident of Nonglai Longgaon which falls under Ketetong Gaon Panchayat of Margherita Police Station admitted her wife to the said hospital as she was pregnant and suffering from pain.

At around 11:30 PM on December 31st, the pregnant women gave birth to twin babies but the duo died on Sunday midnight. Following this, the parents alleged that their babies couldn't survive due to the negligent behaviour of the doctors.

After, this on Monday morning, a few people along with the parents gathered at the hospital and expressed their anguish against the hospital staff and demanded an enquiry.

They further demanded the licenses of the concerned doctors should be cancelled.

Meanwhile, commenting on the same, All Assam Gorkha Student Union Margherita Regional Committee asserted that this is not a new case at the said hospital.

''Many parents have lost their babies due to irresponsible behaviour of doctors here,'' they added.

Meanwhile, the Gauwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has initiated an inquiry into the death of babies. The inquiry was set up by the office of GMCH Suprintendent Abhijit Sarma on Tuesday.
