GUWAHATI: In a concerted effort to prevent illegal infiltration, Assam Police arrested and deported five Bangladeshi nationals across the international border. The individuals deported have been identified as Hansi Akhtar, Sraboni, Shohagi Khan, Sumi Khan, and Nila Akhtar.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police force for their proactive approach in tackling illegal immigration. In a post on X, he lauded the team for their commitment and steadfast efforts in protecting Assam's territorial integrity.
The Chief Minister posted on X, "Assam Police has once again shown exemplary dedication by apprehending and deporting five Bangladeshi nationals involved in illegal infiltration. Great work, team!"
He also reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal migration.
This action is part of a broader ongoing initiative by Assam Police to identify and tackle infiltration issues that threaten the state's demographic and security stability.
On December 24, Assam Police arrested two individuals, Abdul Zaher Sheikh from Joypur Namapara and Sabbir Mirdha from Kachipara Bazar, in a major operation. Authorities have connected the influx to a larger conspiracy involving cross-border handlers.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, two Bangladeshi nationals identified as Mahabul Haque and Shahina Akhtar were arrested by Assam Police for illegally crossing into India near the international border.
Assam Police personnel apprehended the individuals during a routine border surveillance operation. After their arrest, both were promptly deported to Bangladesh. The operation was a part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security in the region.
