Tezpur: The district-level launch programme of the Sub National Immunization Day (SNID) 2024 to cover 0-5-year-old children with two drops of the oral polio vaccine for Sonitpur district was held at the conference hall of the office of the Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (FW), Sonitpur. The launch program of SNID was formally inaugurated by District Commissioner of Sonitpur Ankur Bharali and followed by a short meeting and ceremonial administering of polio drops to the present children of 0 years to 5 years of age at the event. DC Bharali, in his speech, urged the parents of eligible children to come forward and take this opportunity for getting the polio immunization drops for their children.
It must be noted that the SNID program launched on Sunday in Sonitpur, along with 26 other districts of the state, is a three-day program and shall continue till December 10. The program aims to cover all children from 0 to 5 years of age in the district. On 8th December the polio drops will be administered in the polio booths, while on 9th and 10th December house-to-house visits will be conducted. Sonitpur district is ready to administer polio drops to around 158,539 eligible children in a total of 870 polio booths, including general, hard-to-reach, and transit booths.
