RANGIA: The organisers are working hard in preparation for the upcoming Estema to be hosted in the Rangia region of the state.
The organisers of Estema mentioned that the participants from five districts of the state will be taking part in this celebration along with those from Shillong. They mentioned that they are expecting the footfall of over 20 lakh people belonging to the Muslim community during this event. They also mentioned that the event will be organised with a three-day schedule starting on 13 February 2024.
The organisers also mentioned that the massive campus of the event will spread over around 500 Bighas of land. For the same, the public has already donated about 60,000 bamboos and vehicle loads of paddy straw to be used in the construction of the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the visitors coming from Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon, Darrang and Baksa districts of Assam along with the capital city of Meghalaya.
They also mentioned that on the last day of the event, that is on February 15, a large number of people will be gathering and praying for world peace following the Islamic traditions.
Meanwhile another event, the Nazirating Tamuli Tourism Festival 2024 commenced on the first day of the New Year on the banks of the Dibru River near the Nazirating forest area in Digboi, marked by the lively participation of a large number of locals and visitors. The festival's inauguration was graced by Rameshwar Teli, Minister of State in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, along with the Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, who is also the chairman of the organizing committee of the festival.
The Satradhikar of the Tamuli Bongaon and Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala were also present for the event. The ceremonial opening of the festival's main stage took place at the Digboi Sammanai Khetra as Laxmi Nandan Gogoi, the former Deputy Commissioner of the Sivasagar district formally flagged off the event.
