Assam: President Murmu to Attend Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2023 on June 12

Chief Secretary of Assam convened a meeting with the Cultural Affairs Department and representatives from all stakeholder departments to review preparations for the Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2023.

GUWAHATI: In a significant move, the Chief Secretary of Assam convened a meeting with the Cultural Affairs Department and representatives from all stakeholder departments to review preparations for the Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2023, scheduled to be held on June 12, 2025, at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has kindly agreed to attend the event as the chief guest.

Instructions were issued to all committees to ensure seamless coordination and arrange the event in a manner befitting the legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, a detailed review was undertaken of the minute-to-minute programme, roles and responsibilities of committee members, dais plan, seating arrangements, list of invitees, transportation, accommodation, and other logistical aspects.

Meanwhile, the meeting also reviewed the preparations for "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam 2.0", under which nearly 31 lakh saplings will be planted across schools, colleges, and other institutions through the Education Department.

The campaign will commence on June 5, 2025, coinciding with World Environment Day 2025, and conclude on June 30, 2025. It will be aligned with various national programmes such as MGNREGA, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), and the National Green Highways Mission.
