Assam Promotes Several IPS Officers to Higher Ranks, Effective from January 1, 2025

Assam has promoted several IPS officers to higher ranks, effective January 1, 2025, recognizing leadership and advancing police force structure, with several officers elevated to key positions.

GUWAHATI: In a major step towards strengthening its police force, Assam has promoted several Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to higher ranks, effective from January 1, 2025. These promotions cover various grades, emphasizing the state’s commitment to advancing its police leadership.

Notable promotions include Mohneesh Mishra, Shankar Brata Raimedhi, Ankur Jain, and Subashini Sankaran, who have all been granted proforma promotions to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police in Super Time Scale-I, Level 13A in the Pay Matrix. The officers are on central deputation and are working as Additional Deputy Director at the Intelligence Bureau and Deputy Secretary at the Cabinet Secretariat.

Additionally, Padmanabh Baruah, Subhrajyoti Bora, and Mohan Lal Meena, all IPS officers from the 2016 batch, have been elevated to the Junior Administrative Grade in Level 12 of the Pay Matrix. They will continue in their current assignments until further instructions are issued. 

Sunil Kumar, IPS (RR-2007), has been granted proforma promotion to the rank of Inspector General of Police in Super Time Scale-II (Level 14) while Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS (SPS-2007), has been promoted to the same rank, reflecting his work as the officiating Inspector General of Police (Administration) in Assam. 

In addition, A. Y. V. Krishna and Munna Prasad Gupta, both from the 1995 batch, have been promoted to the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG+) in Above Super Time Scale-II (Level 16). These promotions reflect the state’s ongoing focus on enhancing its police leadership structure.
