RANGIA: A distressing incident in Assam's Rangia has highlighted the potential dangers of online gaming addiction, as a family has been shattered by a wife's obsession with the game PUBG. According to reports, Jeherul Ali, a resident of Gogmalacha, saw his wife undergo a complete transformation as she became more and more involved in playing PUBG, sometimes forgetting even domestic chores and family meals. Her addiction to video games supposedly created tensions, with Ali venting against her activities, which reportedly gave rise to physical fights.
Things went from bad to worse when the woman entered into a romantic relationship with a young man from West Bengal she met on the online gaming site. In a calculated move, she deceived her husband on Tuesday night by pretending to sleep beside him, using pillows and a doll to create the illusion of her presence.
In the early hours, she secretly left the house with her lover, taking not only her personal belongings but also their daughter, money from a Bandhan Bank loan, and approximately 1.5 lakh rupees that were kept at home.
The incident has created a lot of buzz in the community with Jeherul Ali heartbroken by his wife's unexpected exit with her out-of-state boyfriend. As a reaction to the incident, he has filed a formal complaint at the Rangia police station. This act has reopened debate about the negative impact of online gaming addiction on families and relationships in society.
