KHERONI: The Purvanchal Ekta Manch, a platform representing the voice of 200 million people at national and international levels, has been tirelessly working to promote the Bhojpuri language and secure its recognition in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. As part of this ongoing effort, the organization has been organizing the Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan every year at the Dada Dev Mela Ground, Dwarka in New Delhi.

Bhojpuri, a melodious language spoken by over 250 million people across 16 countries, holds significant international importance. It is taught in numerous universities worldwide and has established Bhojpuri Academies in Bihar, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. Despite the persistent demands of millions of Bhojpuri speakers, the language has yet to be included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Last month, a committee submitted its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs, questioning the process and criteria for including the 22 languages currently listed in the Eighth Schedule.

With the aim of intensifying this battle, the Purvanchal Ekta Manch has decided to hold the Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan on April 12 and 13 (Saturday and Sunday). The event will bring together scholars, litterateurs, artists, and individuals associated with Bhojpuri music and cinema from India and abroad to discuss Bhojpuri language, literature, and culture.

Among the prominent participants expected at the Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan are Dharmendra Chauhan, President of Bhojpuri Jan Jagran Abhiyan, Assam, along with other notable figures. Key organizers include Mukesh Singh (National Convener), Manoj Jha (National General Secretary), Dr Santosh Patel (National Spokesperson), and Shivji Singh (President, Purvanchal Ekta Manch).
