GUWAHATI: Assam’s Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has handed over appointment letters to newly recruited assistant professors in state engineering colleges, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the state.
Speaking at the event, Minister Pegu highlighted Assam’s achievement in surpassing its 1 lakh government job commitment, a key promise of the state government. “The Assam government has already crossed its commitment of giving 1 lakh jobs. Now, we have completed 1,15,000 jobs, and we have already recruited people. Today, under the Higher Education Department, we have distributed appointment letters to assistant professors of state engineering colleges,” he stated.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Minister Pegu wrote, "Handed over appointment letters to 93 assistant professors for state engineering colleges of Assam—a much-awaited recruitment after a 7-year gap. Thrilled to see these new appointments finally materialize! I urge the newly inducted faculty to lead the implementation of #NEP2020 and adapt to the technological advancements of the 21st century. The recruitment drive is aimed at enhancing academic institutions with qualified faculty, improving technical education, and producing industry-ready graduates. Under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership, the Assam government’s employment drive has focused on creating job opportunities across various departments.
