Assam: Retired Army JCO Prahlad Hazarika dies after Being Hit by Speeding Bus on NH-15

A 75-year-old retired Army officer, Prahlad Hazarika, a resident of Shantipur Kusumtola, died in a road accident on NH-15 on Saturday.

JAMUGURIHAT: A 75-year-old retired Army officer, Prahlad Hazarika, a resident of Shantipur Kusumtola, died in a road accident on NH-15 on Saturday. According to available information, Hazarika was returning home when a speeding bus allegedly hit him from behind. He sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to Kusumtola Model Hospital. He was later referred to Tezpur for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries while being taken there. Representatives of various organisations, including Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika, Kusumtola VDC, Naduar Nagarik Mancha, Jamuguri Town Committee and representatives of the Sonitpur district and regional units of the Retired Army Welfare Association, reached his residence at Kusumtola and paid their last respects before the final rites were performed on Sunday. Hazarika is survived by two sons and other relatives. He had retired as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the Signal Corps of the Indian Army and was associated with several socio-cultural and environmental organisations in the greater Jamugurihat and Kusumtola areas.
