JIRIBAM: During a significant crackdown on illegal activities, security personnel conducted search operations in Jiribam on March 20, 2025. The operations, which were aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the area, resulted in the successful recovery of arms and war-like stocks.
Assam Rifles, in liaison with Manipur Police, searched Uchathol, Jiribam, and seized 100 gelatin sticks with a weight of 12.5 kg together with live ammunition. The seizure averted the dangers caused by the explosives and reflected the security forces' dedication to keeping the area safe.
In another synchronized operation, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with CRPF and Manipur Police, searched Binselu village and Mualzawl of Jiribam.
The security forces, accompanied by explosive sniffer canines, unearthed five Indigenous single-barrel guns, one Indigenous 12-bore gun, one pistol, two Pompy guns, and six bombs.
Moreover, one improvised explosive device (IED), which had the potential to be initiated remotely and electrically, and two gelatin sticks were seized from a rubber plantation. These arms and explosives found in the area reflected a calculated move to destabilize the area.
These massive recoveries have given a severe blow to those groups who are still in possession of illegal weapons and explosives with the intention of disturbing peace in Jiribam. The crackdown is a clear indication that security forces are on high alert and determined to neutralize any danger to law and order.
Assam Rifles has been working in active collaboration with sister organizations and interacting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to establish confidence-building measures in the area.
