Assam: Samutkarsh Mahashivir Concludes with Grand Cultural Showcase at Sarusajai

The closing ceremony of Samutkarsh Mahashivir 2025 showcased 6,000 students' performances, emphasizing holistic education.

GUWAHATI: The closing ceremony of Samutkarsh Mahashivir 2025 at Sarusajai Stadium witnessed the brilliant performances of 5,000 students in Ghosh and 1,000 in Bihu, which signifies the commitment of the event towards holistic education and cultural values. Organized by Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, the event was a three-day programme that aimed at self-realization and social harmony among participants.

The governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, inaugurated this event and said that education not only develops an individual but also develops a nation. In his speech, he said education is not merely to acquire knowledge; good citizenship and moral integrity are also required. Quoting Aristotle, he said, "A civilized society is one where good people become good citizens," reiterating the need for educational reforms to create a cultured society.

Governor Acharya also spoke about India's glorious educational past, talking about the ancient Gurukul system and the great institutions like Nalanda and Takshashila. He appreciated Vidya Bharati for its emphasis on all-round development and critical thinking while introducing technology in the learning process. 

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and mines and minerals minister Kaushik Rai reiterated their commitment to improving education as a means of empowering future generations. Samutkarsh Mahashivir 2025 remains a vital platform for dialogue on educational reforms, cultural heritage preservation, and the integration of technology in learning.
