GUWAHATI: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam continues to lead the way in digital empowerment, once again securing the top spot in CSC DigiPay Sakhi transactions across India.

With an impressive transaction value of Rs. 29.06 crore and 1.43 lakh transactions, the state showcases the growing impact of digital inclusion and women-led financial services. This achievement highlights the crucial role of technology in driving financial accessibility and empowering rural communities, particularly through initiatives that support women entrepreneurs in the digital economy.

Previously, Assam had emerged as the leading state in India for digital payments, earning the title of the best Digipay Sakhi State for August 2024. This recognition follows a significant achievement in which the state recorded transactions totaling an impressive Rs 20.13 crore.

The Digipay Sakhi initiative, launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, focuses on training women to become digital payment agents. The state government, led by CM Sarma, has prioritized digital transformation as part of its broader development agenda.

The efforts to enhance digital literacy among women have not only increased the number of transactions but also fostered a sense of financial independence among participants. The women involved in the Digipay Sakhi program have become crucial intermediaries, helping their families and communities adapt to the digital economy.
