BOKAKHAT: “The garden is gone, the field too… will the house survive now?” speculated an elderly woman in Morongi, where a new danger has emerged after the flood.

In Golaghat district’s Morongi mouza, areas like Borgoriya Ahom Chuk, Nepalikhuti, and Letekuchapori are now facing severe erosion by the Dhansiri river. In some places, the river has already reached people’s courtyards. Many of them have already lost their farmland to the river.

The main road of Ahom Chuk and even the primary school are now under threat. Many other villages along the Dhansiri river in Morongi are also facing alarming erosion in the aftermath of the flood.
