SIVASAGAR: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has officially recognized Sibsagar University in Assam, marking a significant milestone. This recognition enhances the university’s academic credibility. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the recognition on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), sharing the news with the public.
"Congratulations to Sibsagar University! Along with earning recognition from the Association of Indian Universities, the university’s team has made a mark at the All India Inter University Woodball Tournament 2025 at Parul University, Gujarat. A silver in the men’s doubles stroke competition and a bronze in the women’s team fairway event reflect their dedication and skill. A proud moment for all!" Ranoj Pegu stated.
The recognition allows Sibsagar University’s degrees to be widely accepted across India and abroad. It also opens up more opportunities for students pursuing higher education or employment.
Sibsagar University got recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC has informed the registrar of Sibsagar University about the recognition.
Sibsagar University was established as a state university by the Government of Assam with effect from November 22, 2023.
"In good news for the education sector of Assam, Sibsagar University, Sibsagar, which has been upgraded from the erstwhile Sibsagar College, has been recognized by the University Grants Commission," Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on his X handle.
