SILCHAR: On Tuesday morning, Silchar’s Town Club playground turned into a vibrant cultural hub as Cachar’s Guardian Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, Barak Valley Development Department Minister Kaushik Rai, and local MLA Dipayan Chakrabarty joined the Zonal Jhumur Dance training.
Dancers from Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi districts showcased their dedication and talent, refining their steps in preparation for the grand ‘Jhumur Binandini’ programme scheduled to take place at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati later this month.
Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah was seen actively engaging with the participants and even joining them in a spirited Jhumur dance rehearsal. Later speaking to the media, Minister Mallabaruah expressed his admiration for the young talents and their commitment to preserving Assam’s cultural heritage. “Jhumur dance is not just a form of artistic expression but a reflection of our tradition and unity,” he said.
The grand spectacle of cultural heritage is set to unfold on February 24 at Sarusojai Stadium in Guwahati. A total of 180 participants from Cachar, including 100 dancers, 67 instrumentalists, and 13 master trainers, would showcase their talent alongside 64 participants from Sribhumi (20 dancers, 37 instrumentalists, and 7 master trainers) and 102 participants from Hailakandi, featuring 20 dancers, 76 instrumentalists, and 6 master trainers.
