Assam: Sonitpur Honors 24 Contributors with Jal Seva Awards for Excellence in Jal Jeevan Mission

Sonitpur district honored individuals and organizations with Jal Seva Awards for excellence in implementing safe drinking water schemes under JJM.

TEZPUR: In Sonitpur district, individuals and organizations contributing to the successful implementation and management of safe drinking water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission were honoured with the Jal Seva Awards. These awards acknowledged the exemplary efforts of contributors such as Jalmitras, Pani User Committees, Gram Panchayats, contractors, and Jaldoots across various categories.

The ceremony, organized by the Sonitpur District Drinking Water and Sanitation Committee in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), was held at the conference hall of PHED Tezpur Subdivision No. 1. The event was led by District Coordinator Manas Jyoti Bhuyan and graced by prominent dignitaries, including District Commissioner Ankur Bharali, Additional District Commissioner Iris Arman Ahmed, PHED Chief Engineer M Hussain, Executive Engineers Gautam Bora and Biplab Jyoti Das, and Assistant Executive Engineers Jyotisman Sharma and Manas Gogoi, among others.

A total of 24 individuals and organizations were recognized for their outstanding contributions between July and September 2024. The Best Jalmitra Awards were presented to Bikash Deka (Deka Chuburi), Michael Hore (Uhani Pathar Batbari), Binay Borah (Borachuk), Tufan Sabor (No. 2 Panbari Tea Garden), and five others. Best Contractor Awards were given to Amar Paul, Purvanchal Enterprise, and one additional recipient. Best Pani User Committees Awards were presented to committees from Bam Beseria, Kachari Gaon Bagalibari, Madhuribil, and three others. The Best Gram Panchayat Award was presented to South Silabandha Gram Panchayat. The Best Women Water Testing Group Award was given to groups from Deka Chuburi, Dhekeri Gaon, and Rampur Hatinga. The Best Jaldoot Awards were presented to Dolly Roy (Kadamtal Higher Secondary School) and Dipanjali Kalita (Collegiate High School).
