KOKRAJHAR: In a commendable initiative aimed at educating and inspiring young minds, the 31st Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gossaigaon, organized an exhibition-cum-visit for schoolchildren on Tuesday at its battalion headquarters in Gossaigaon.
The event was designed to familiarize students with the multifaceted duties performed by SSB personnel, both along the India-Bhutan international boundary and within the country. A total of 45 students along with teachers from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) School, Gossaigaon, participated in the programme.
The day-long event featured a K9 dog show, a weapon exhibition, a tour of the battalion campus and an interactive session with SSB personnel. These activities offered the students a first-hand experience of the discipline, dedication, and responsibilities involved in serving in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). In alignment with key national initiatives, the event also highlighted awareness campaigns on ‘Nasha Mukti Abhiyan’, encouraging the students to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy lifestyle; ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and hygiene; and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, promoting the education and empowerment of girls. These sessions aimed to instil a sense of social responsibility and civic values in the young participants.
Prominent officers present at the event included Amit Singh, Commandant, 31 Bn SSB; Jeet Singh, Second-in-Command; Pranava Shukla, Deputy Commandant; Dighade S. R., Deputy Commandant; and Mayank Bhatt, Assistant Commandant.
The officers actively engaged with the students, sharing insights into their roles and encouraging them to consider a future career in the CAPFs. The interaction aimed to build a sense of patriotism, awareness, and admiration for the nation’s security forces.
This initiative by the 31 Bn SSB underscores its commitment not only to national security but also to community outreach and youth motivation, paving the way for a stronger, more informed generation of future leaders.
