GUWAHATI: The Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden is set to introduce a Jurassic Theme Park, featuring life-like, animatronic dinosaur statues designed to take visitors on a journey back to the age of dinosaurs.
On Wednesday, January 1, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the transformation of the Assam State Zoo. The full renovation of the zoo is projected to cost Rs. 362.04 crore.
In addition to the prehistoric attraction, a geodesic dome aviary will showcase a variety of bird species, while a children's park will be created for young visitors.
The modernised zoo will also include a cutting-edge animal hospital, specialized enclosures for large carnivores, reptiles, and exotic species. It will feature breeding centers for endangered animals and innovative glass-view enclosures, offering visitors the opportunity to interact with animals while ensuring their safety.
The project also seeks to incorporate rainwater harvesting, sustainable landscaping, and the use of green energy technologies.
The zoo will feature automated entry and exit systems, a multi-purpose entrance block with food courts and escalators, hiking trails, and QR-coded information for visitors.
The Assam State Zoo will also include disability-friendly infrastructure, ramps, and wheelchair access, along with an emergency SOS system.
