GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force of Assam, under Operation PRAGHAT, has managed to nab an operative involved with extremist groups and international terrorist organizations. The operation was carried out in the early hours of February 3, when STF Assam, in coordination with Kokrajhar Police, arrested Nasim Uddin SK in Kokrajhar district.
Nasim Uddin SK has been found to be one of the most active members of both Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JAM). He has been described as being associated with the main suspect Nur Islam Mandal who was once arrested for his involvement in the extremist activities. On December 17, 2024, Nasim Uddin managed to evade capture while allegedly facilitating other operations in providing weapons and manufacturing IEDs that would give a boost to extremist groups.
The investigations indicate that Uddin's actions were part of a broader agenda to undermine national security and disrupt peace in India. He was arrested in connection with STF PS Case No. 21/2024 for various charges against him, including Sections 61(2), 147, 148, and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Sections 10, 13, 16, 18, 18B, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
Other charges against him include Section 12(1)(a) of the Passport Act, 1967, as well as Sections 38 and 39 of the UA(P) Act, Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act, Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, and Sections 13 and 14 of the Foreigners Act.
After appearing in court, the person was remanded to police custody for seven days.
