KHERONI: While most parts of the state are suffering from massive heat in the last few days, parts of the West Karbi Anglong district of the state were devastated by a storm.
A massive storm caused severe damage in parts of the West Karbi Anglong district on Sunday night. Kheroni, Phelangpi, Prilo and Jegkha localities of the district were among the worst affected by the massive storm and the accompanying rains.
The storms blew away the roofs of multiple houses, uprooted trees caused massive damage to many more houses. Electric poles were also uprooted at many locations in the district causing disruptions in the power supply. Although the storm caused massive damage to property, no one was injured in the incident.
In a devastating turn of events, the town of Titabar in Assam's Jorhat district bore witness to the wrath of a heavy storm that swept through the region in the beginning of this month. This tumultuous tempest left behind a harrowing trail of destruction, shaking the very foundations of this serene community. The storm unleashed its fury across multiple locations within the area, sparing none in its path. The aftermath, as dawn broke, revealed a grim picture - damaged infrastructure and a city bereft of electricity poles. The residents woke up to a disconcerting reality as they grappled with the enormity of the damage inflicted upon their town.
This natural calamity, like an unwelcome guest, disrupted the normalcy of life in Titabar. Travel plans were thrown into disarray, and the heart of the town was plunged into darkness due to the loss of electricity supply. The beleaguered residents found themselves facing a slew of inconveniences, with no respite in sight.
Titabar was not alone in its ordeal. Golaghat, a neighboring town, experienced a similar nightmare during the early hours of Tuesday. The tempest showed no mercy as it uprooted trees and wreaked havoc in areas like Padumoni and Dhekial villages. The landscape was marred by the fallen giants, and the once picturesque scenery had been transformed into a scene of desolation.
