SILCHAR:  In a significant move to ensure a free, fair, and transparent examination process, the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has scheduled the Screening Test (OMR & Written) for the post of Assistant Accounts Officer in Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) on March 23, 2025. The examination will be held across multiple venues in Cachar district, with strict security measures put in place by the district administration to prevent any form of malpractice.

The designated examination centres in Silchar include Gurucharan College, Cachar College, and Government Girls HS & MP School, where a total of 1,580 candidates will appear for the test in two shifts—from 9:00am to 12:00 Noon and 1:30pm to 4:30pm. To maintain order and discipline during the examination, the District Magistrate of Cachar, Mridul Yadav has issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, enforcing strict restrictions around the examination venues.

To maintain law and order and prevent any potential malpractice, the order restricts gatherings within a 100-metre radius of the examination centres, allowing only candidates, scribes, and designated officials. Additionally, candidates are strictly prohibited from carrying mobile phones, electronic gadgets, smartwatches, health bands, bluetooth devices, microphones, calculators, pen drives, textual materials, or any item that could facilitate unfair means inside the examination halls.

The administration has expressed concerns that unscrupulous elements may attempt to disrupt the examination process, leading to obstruction, annoyance, or threats to public tranquillity. In light of these possibilities, stringent measures have been enforced to deter any external influence and ensure the integrity of the examination.

The District Magistrate has warned that any violation of this order will be dealt with firmly under relevant legal provisions. Authorities have urged candidates and the general public to adhere to the guidelines to facilitate a smooth and disciplined examination process, stated a press release.
