TINSUKIA: Amidst the Bihu festivities, school students of Philobari High School in Tinsukia district of Assam have set up a special Bihu market to mark the occasion and bring community spirit together.
Buyers will be able to choose from a wide variety of options ranging from fresh vegetables to daily essentials offered in the market run by the young vendors of the school.
Students enrolled in this school have embraced the role of sellers, imbibing the value of hard work, teamwork, and local tradition - all while spreading the festive joy of Bihu.
Earlier, on the eve of Rongali Bihu, the spirit of festivity came alive at Assam Valley Academy Senior Secondary School, Ketekibari, Tezpur, as teachers, students, and parents gathered to celebrate Pre-Rongali Bihu with a vibrant and culturally immersive programme.
School campus was brimming with enthusiasm, with participants dressed in traditional Assamese attire, setting the tone for the upcoming festival.
The celebration aimed to instill awareness about the rich traditions of Bohag Bihu among the younger generation. Principal and Director Abhijit Kalita stated that the event was not only a festive occasion but also an educational one, highlighting the deep-rooted customs and cultural significance of Rongali Bihu.
