Assam: Tai-Ahom dance-music workshop organized in Nagaon

Tai-Ahom dance-music workshop was organized in the Champavati Auditorium of Nagaon Chapanala by Tai Ahom Unnayan Parishad and with the support of Assam Government.

NAGAON: A ten-day Tai-Ahom dance-music workshop was organized in the Champavati Auditorium of Nagaon Chapanala by Tai Ahom Unnayan Parishad and with the support of Assam Government, which was inaugurated by senior journalist Ajay Mahato. In his speech, recounting the history of Tai-Ahoms, he said that dedication for the country should be learnt from the Ahom caste and an example of this is Veer Lachit Barphukan.

Mahato said that the development of any caste is through the development of its language, art, and culture. The meeting was presided over by EM Rinku Bora of Tai Ahom Unnayan Parishad. He said that Tai Ahom dance and music are almost disappearing today and this workshop has been organized with the objective that our people should not be deprived of their art-culture tradition. It is noteworthy that more than one hundred Tai Ahom children and their parents participated in this workshop and learnt about their tradition.

Chief Secretary of Nagaon Bar Association and Senior Advocate Jayant Bordalai, members of ATASU Nagaon District Committee were also present in this meeting along with a large number of people of Tai-Ahom caste.
