Assam: Three Dead As Pick-Up Van Collides With Parked Truck In Sonapur

Eyewitnesses held the auto-van responsible for the accident, saying that the truck was parked properly within the demarcated area.

SONAPUR: In a fatal incident, a tragic accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including a minor, at Sonapur located in the outskirts of Guwahati city earlier this morning.

The deceased trio have been identified as Sariful Islam, Shakil Ahmed and Mushtaq Ahmed. The road mishap occurred when a pick-up van enroute to Guwahati from Morigaon where they were travelling in crashed into a parked truck.

All of the three victims were seated in the front compartment of the van when the fatal collision took place. The impact of the strike was so severe that they eventually succumbed to their injuries.

The bodies were still trapped inside the vehicle when officials arrived at the scene to take stock of the matter.

Eyewitnesses held the auto-van responsible for the accident, saying that the truck was parked properly within the demarcated area. According to initial reports, the van was cruising at a high speed before ramming into the truck.

Meanwhile, earlier yesterday, an Indian Air Force officer met with a road accident that took place on the Barpeta-Howly road in Assam, leaving him injured.

The injured officer had been identified as Dharmendra Kumar who was travelling from Shillong to Bagdogra in West Bengal along with his colleague.

The road mishap occurred when a Swift Dzire vehicle bearing registration number AS 15M 6698 approaching from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle at a high speed.

The officer was driving a Mahindra XUV 700 car bearing registration number DL 1C AF 7778 and he sustained injuries to his hand.
