TINSUKIA: Tinsukia is gearing up for grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations as a 12-foot idol of Lord Ganesha will be installed at West Sripuria Vivekananda Road. The event is being organised by Shree Ganeshaya Vivekananda Sangha, promising vibrant festivities and devotional fervour.

The towering idol, crafted with intricate detailing, will be the centre of attraction for devotees and visitors. To mark the auspicious occasion, organisers have planned a series of cultural and religious programmes, including aarti, bhajans, and community feasts.

Ganesh Chaturthi, one of India’s most widely celebrated festivals, honours Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the harbinger of wisdom and prosperity. Known as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity, and beginnings, Ganesha holds a special place in every Hindu household.

Ganesh Chaturthi in 2025 will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27. The Chaturthi Tithi, which marks the beginning of the celebrations, starts on August 26 at 1:45 PM and ends on August 27 at 3:44 PM.

The celebrations last for ten days, from the Chaturthi (fourth day of the lunar month) to Anant Chaturdashi, when the idols of Lord Ganesha are immersed in water, symbolising his return to his celestial abode. Local residents are eagerly awaiting the celebrations, which are expected to draw large crowds from across Tinsukia and neighbouring areas.
