TANGLA: A three-day training programme on technical knowledge of the post-cocoon stage of Eri, Pat, and Muga silk concluded at the office of the Sericulture Department in Udalguri recently. The programme was organized by the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Assam, Khanapara, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department of Udalguri district and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA). A total of 30 women farmers associated with the Udalguri Sericulture Department participated in the training. The training program was inaugurated by the Director of SAMETI, Khanapara, Rajiv Bhuyan.
The inaugural event was attended by Agriculture Officer, Udalguri, Deepak Medhi; Assistant Agriculture Director, Dwijen Choudhury; and others. During the training, Senior Technical Assistant of the Regional Sericulture Research and Training Centre and Central Pat-Muga Board, Guwahati, Anup Kumar Barman provided the farmers with insights into the technical knowledge of the post-cocoon stage, related procedures, sericulture activities, and the importance of silkworm rearing.
The training covered various aspects such as the development stages of silkworms, cocoon harvesting and processing, silk yarn production, and the use of reeling and cutting machines. The participating farmers actively engaged in practical training sessions. At the end of the training, certificates were distributed to the participants farmers.
