Assam: Two Drivers from Cachar Go Missing with Lorries in Manipur; Families Protest

The families of two drivers have staged a protest at the Jandu Construction office after they went missing along with their lorries in Manipur.

Silchar: The families of two drivers have staged a protest at the Jandu Construction office after they went missing along with their lorries in Manipur. On January 3, the two drivers departed Silchar in 1618 dumper trucks to transport construction materials from the Jandu Construction office.

As per reports, the two drivers went missing on their return journey after delivering the construction materials to their destination.

The identities of the two missing drivers have been confirmed as Rijul Haque Laskar, son of Safar Uddin Laskar from Ganganagar Part 4 under Kachudaram Police Station in East Dholai, and Nasir Uddin, son of Massadar Ali from Lakkhkhichara Forest Village Part 2 under Jirighat Police Station of Lakhipur. The dumper trucks bear the registration numbers AS 11 CC 3476 and AS 11 3691.

In another news, the decomposed body of an 18-year-old student, Purna Chandra Barman, was found under mysterious circumstances near the Barak River in Katigorah, Silchar, on Tuesday. Purna, a Gurucharan College student from Ujangram, lived in a rented house in Silchar with his sister.

Family sources revealed he left home alone around 11 PM on December 31 and went missing. A missing person complaint was filed on January 1, but police efforts yielded no results until his body was discovered.

A mobile phone and headphones were found near the site, but the phone's SIM card was missing, raising suspicions of murder and the body being dumped on the riverbank. The incident has shocked the community, prompting an active police investigation.
