SIVASAGAR: A serious road accident took place late Tuesday night near Phulpanisiga, Charing, along National Highway 37 in Assam’s Sivasagar district. A red Suzuki S-Presso (AS04Y2900) collided head-on with a Gurunanak Night Super bus, leaving two individuals injured.

The Suzuki S-Presso, reportedly heading towards Sivasagar, lost control and veered into the path of the oncoming bus. Two individuals in the car—the driver and a front-seat passenger—sustained injuries in the impact. The airbags in the vehicle deployed upon collision, likely preventing more serious harm.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the bus passengers. The accident caused a temporary disruption in traffic on NH37, but the road was cleared within an hour. Police have launched an investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, another road accident took place in Bamunbari near Demow on NH37 road earlier in February, where one died and two were injured. The deceased has been identified as Bipin Dutta (65 years), a resident of Bamunbari Jamuktalor.

According to information received, a motorcycle (AS 03 AH 1766) that was coming from Jorhat and heading towards Dibrugarh hit Bipin Dutta in Bamunbari at NH37 road near Demow, killing him. Two others, Kaushik Hazarika and Surajit Ghosh, were injured in the accident.
