BISWANATH CHARIALI: The body of one Musharraf Alam (17 years) of Sowaguri village under Biswanath Chariali Police Station, who went missing in the Brahmaputra River during Bihu, was recovered in the riverine areas between Panpur and Silghat today by a patrolling party of the forest department. Musharraf went missing while trying to rescue his friend who was drowning while bathing in the Brahmaputra.
The SDRF and NDRF forces continued their rescue operation in the Brahmaputra for the last four days with the cooperation of local people. The victim's family members arrived at the scene and identified the body as Musharraf's.
Meanwhile, Chumi Pradhan, (27 years) of Gohpur was killed in a road accident near Chengagaon on the NH15 connecting Rajgarh to Barigaon road on the Assam-Arunachal border on Sunday morning. According to information, she was travelling with her friend Tutumani Nath (26 years) of Deonabari on the latter's scooter (AS12Z8945) to Gohpur town. Suddenly, a Scorpio vehicle hit them from behind. As a result, Chumi Pradhan, who was in the rear seat of the scooter, died on the spot.
Seriously injured Tutumoni Nath was admitted to Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
