GUWAHATI: In a recent bust, the Guwahati Police on Monday arrested two local men and a 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman for allegedly producing pornographic content at a hotel in Guwahati. The Dispur Police made the arrests following a swift operation.
The accused men, identified as Shafikul and Jahangir, both from Assam, and the woman, Meen Akhtar, a resident of Bangladesh, are currently in police custody. According to police reports, the group had booked rooms at a hotel in the Super Market area of Guwahati, where investigators suspect they planned to film obscene videos in these hotel rooms.
Police sources revealed that Meen Akhtar had traveled alone to the Bangladesh border and entered India under the pretense of employment, and she allegedly crossed into Assam without a valid visa or passport.
Following the arrests, the young woman was sent for a medical examination, while the two arrested youths were being interrogated by senior officers at Hatigaon Police Station. Police are also investigating possible links to larger criminal networks involved in similar illegal activities. The investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a large-scale illegal coal storage has been discovered in Ledo under the 83 No. Margherita constituency. L. Ratan Singh, General Secretary of the International Human Rights Council, Tinsukia District Committee, stated that without the tacit support of the Assam Government and Assam Police, such illegal coal storage and expansion would not be possible.
