BIHALI: Bihali Police has been able to foil yet another attempt at transporting cattle illegally in the region as they were able to seize trucks with multiple animals onboard.
Following leads from their sources, a team of personnel from the Bihali Police carried out a naka checking at the Buroighat locality in Bihali. During this check, the police team was able to capture two trucks carrying a large number of cattle without the necessary permissions. The registration numbers of these trucks were AS 01 QC 3867 and AS 14 C 6194 respectively.
The police team was able to rescue a total of 50 cattle from both trucks. They were also able to apprehend four people in relation to the incident. The police officials mentioned that the drivers initially lied about the source and destination of the cows onboard their trucks, but they later confessed that the cattle were sourced from Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh and were being moved to somewhere in West Bengal, when they were intercepted in Bihali.
The local police were interrogating the apprehended miscreants in an attempt to find more details regarding the development.
Meanwhile, an accident took place in the Jamugurahat region of the Sonitpur district of the state on Monday night. Although the vehicles were damaged in the accident, only one person was injured in the incident.
The accident took place on National Highway No 15 at Muradol in Jamugurihat. The registration numbers of the vehicles involved in the accident were AS 01 NC 1191 and AS 12 AC 2061. Local people rescued the person injured in the incident and moved him to a hospital for proper medical attention.
The head-on collision between the trucks caused traffic congestion which lasted for several hours. Later police personnel arrived at the location and helped clear up the pileup of vehicles. No reasons have been mentioned as to the causes of this accident.
