MANGALDAI: In a confrontation near Mangaldai town, a group of approximately 40 women, mostly encroachers, clashed with authorities at an area of government land designated for mining to support the NH 15 bypass construction. The incident occurred in Baghpori village when Circle Officer of Pub Mangaldai Revenue Circle Tonmoy Bora, accompanied by police, CRPF, and women officers, arrived to enforce an eviction order. Despite repeated requests to vacate the land, which the encroachers had long defied, two women hurled stones and earthen clods at the Circle Officer, causing minor head injuries. Police swiftly detained the two assailants and dispersed the group, restoring order to the site critical for the ongoing bypass project.
