DIBRUGARH: The Upper Assam Contractors' Association (UACAP) has made a significant donation of ₹1.18 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, extending their heartfelt support towards the welfare of the people of Assam. In addition, the Dibrugarh District Engineers Association contributed ₹5 lakh, bringing the total donation to ₹1.23 crore.
The contribution reflects the collective commitment of the associations to stand by the government in managing emergencies, natural disasters, and humanitarian efforts across the state. The associations emphasised that the donation was made in good faith, with a shared intention of supporting the people of Assam during times of adversity and contributing as responsible stakeholders in the state's development.
Alongside the donation, the Upper Assam Contractors' Association submitted a formal request to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, seeking consideration to make the recently proposed ₹5 lakh contractor registration renewal fee refundable. While the association agreed to the renewal fee in good faith, they urged that a refundable model would provide critical financial relief, particularly for small and mid-level contractors.
The Chief Minister personally reviewed the application and assured the delegation that the request would be swiftly examined and necessary action would be taken at the earliest. The associations expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s prompt attention and remain hopeful for a positive outcome that balances the needs of both the government and the contractor community.
