TANGLA: In a unique gesture of gratitude aimed at acknowledging the legacy of individuals who have significantly contributed to the socio-cultural upliftment of the Rabha community, the Udalguri district committee of the Rabha Jatiya Parishad on Monday organized a special event to honour veteran leaders who once played pivotal roles in shaping the organization and championing the cause of Rabha language, literature, art, and culture.
As part of the programme, both living and deceased former stakeholders and cultural activists were honoured through special felicitations.
The honoured individuals included Deben Rabha of Botabari village, Mangal Rabha of Chamuapara village, Janaku Rabha of Mougaon, and Aditya Rabha of Murakhat village. Posthumous honours were extended to the families of the late Dr. Jatin Rabha of Murakhat and the late Pahuram Rabha of Latakhat, a prominent businessman and landowner. His son, Amrit Rabha, received the honour on his behalf.
The honourees and their families were presented with the traditional Rabha Jatiya Pazar, a set of books, and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their dedication and service to the community.
The initiative was led by the President of Rabha Jatiya Parishad, Prasanna Rabha, and coordinated by Secretary Lakhmikanta Rabha. The event witnessed the presence of several key office-bearers, including Advisor Tapan Kumar Rabha, Assistant Secretary Pawan Rabha, Cultural Secretary Sanjay Rabha, and Organizational Secretary Pankaj Pratim Rabha, among others.
